ABSTRACT
In a woman's life, pregnancy is arguably one of the most important moments. Conceiving and giving birth to a child can be both a highly rewarding and fulfilling experience, as well as a traumatic experience, lived with stress, anxiety, and, in many cases, feelings of loneliness that are counterproductive for the health of the mother and for the proper development of the baby. The influence that rhythm and sound have on the intrauterine level is well-known, and working with perinatal music therapy and singing provides numerous benefits for the well-being of the mother and the baby. This study aimed to design, implement, and evaluate an intervention proposal with singing as the main instrument to validate the effects of music therapy as an effective tool in the treatment of stress and anxiety in women in their second trimester of pregnancy. This proposal was implemented for nine weeks with a woman in her fifth month of gestation at the Arrels-Espai Terapèutic Educatiu center in Valencia. The results revea- led the benefits that music therapy and singing offer to women and their babies.
